We are the Boğaziçi University Free Software and Open Knowledge Society (buFOSS). We are a community of students that want to spread the use of open source software and open knowledge among our peers and teachers. We are against proprietary software, user tracking, and closed access to knowledge. We advocate for software that respects the user's freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change, and improve the software. We want to ensure that human knowledge remains free for everyone to access and repurpose. We teach students how to get away from tech monopolies and protect their own privacy. We follow the tradition of critical thinking, academic freedom, and democratic participation of Boğaziçi University.
